Thoughts on my 2011 Zuma

I purchased this bike for one reason...distance. I have two other bikes; one is an older sport bike, and the other is a newer mountain bike. While I enjoy riding both, they suffer from the same problem: I cannot get more than ten miles out before I need to turn around and head back because my legs and lungs give out. With the Zuma, I can go double that range. I rode in the PAS mode from my home in Orange, CA to Newport Beach, CA in under an hour and a half. My average speed was 13.5 miles an hour and I had a total "ride time" of 3.02 hrs round trip. I took the Santa Ana River trail for all but six miles so that helped with the range. I also stopped at a sandwich shop and fueled up while the bike's battery was recharging. My total mileage upon return was 41.03 miles and I still had juice in the battery upon returning home. As a matter of fact, I have yet to have this bike run out of battery power completely. Every time I think I have gone too far and I will not make it back under power, it has not let me down. The difference between a regular bike and an electric bike is this: An electric bike will get you there faster and in much better shape. You get a good cardio workout with a slight dampness, versus a heart pounding sweat fest where you are just waiting for your heart to come flying out of your chest so you run it over. The PAS mode is awesome on this bike. It will kick in just enough to help you out, but not too much to not make you work. From what I understand, the same system is on the 2012 Zuma bike, so you will not be disappointed if you purchase the 2012 model. Another great thing about the PAS mode is that as long as you are pedaling you have throttle at your disposal too. This means if you hit a hill just goose it a little and you are up and over it. It really makes a difference when all the hard sections of a ride are eliminated, allowing you time to relax a little and take more things in along the way. After returning from my 41 mile bike ride, my legs got a good workout, but not so much that they cramped or even really hurt that bad. I would say they were about the same as they would feel on a regular bike after a 20 mile ride. One last thing...I had the great fortune to have the president of Currie help me in my late quest to find a 2011 model Zuma. The way he took care of me by finding me a bike, and answering all of my questions, was well nothing short of outstanding. Mr. Pizzi, thank you for all the help and I wish you and your company all the best. Please keep up the good work because I'm sure with all the miles I am putting on this bike, I will be seeing you in about 5 years when the battery finally runs out and I will need a new one.

My IZIP Metro changed my life! Like many, I need all the exercise I can get and I live in sunny southern California. LA traffic is legendary, and I decided to start riding my bike everywhere unless I absolutely needed a car. The big challenge for me ( a person with multiple sclerosis ) is that I run out of energy fast. Being exhausted kills my day. I got my iZip Metro the day before CicLaVia in LA. I was supposed to go take photographs at the event, and I decided to ride my new bike the 14 miles to downtown LA from the beach. It was WONDERFUL! I used pedal assist mode, and made the ride downtown, around the event and home again on one charge. It was glorious! The bike is bulletproof! Extremely high quality. The seat and positioning are comfortable, I was able to carry a ton of photo gear along with me and I had a smile on my face the whole ride! These bikes are so great, I also purchased an eZip 1000 scooter for zipping around my neighborhood. It is perfect for quick errands and doing neighborhood watch, or checking out the waves at the beach. Living near the salt water has chewed through many a bike of mine. I am very impressed by the construction, materials and parts of these bikes and scooters. I can get where I am going, carry everything I need, and arrive without being exhausted. The staff at the Venice Beach store are also rock stars! A wonderfully helpful bunch!

Currie Electric Bikes
Love these e-bikes. They are well worth the price!!!

Love this bike
My partner and I both bought an ezip Trails and absolutly love it. We live in a hilly part of central California and it was a real deterent when we would hit a hill that we actually had to get off the bike and walk it. With this bike we just drop it into 1st or 2nd and twist and off we go to the top. Now we go at least once a week and are able to ma ke it most of the way up the hill with out having to hit the throttle. A great Confidence booster. Thank you.

Great ride
I purchased the izip zuma from your dealer, Myron's in so. cal after having a disappointing experience with another electric bike company's cruiser. I can't believe how much better the izip is on hill climbing. Much more power and it gets about 30% more range. My neighbor bought one too and now my wife wants one but is holding out for the 2012 model . Izip, where have you been all my life?

Love my IZIP Metro - It's so much fun!
I purchased a Metro last month from the dealer in Seattle and I am thrilled with how much fun it is to ride. I have been looking at electric bikes for more then a year and have ridden almost everything available and nothing holds a candle to the Metro. Now my husband wants one too :-)

April 2011

I got a blue Tri-Cruiser from Temple City bike shop in which is my big toy. As you can see (pictures). The America Legion ask me to ride in the 4th of July in Arcadia. Ca. Did not win an award, but had a good time. I'm sending you the pictures to show them off.

Thank You,
Paul Krotzer

March 16, 2011 - The following testimonials are from some of the Utah Doberman Rescue (utahdobes.orgmembers. This club works to rescue, rehab, treat with vet care & re-home hundreds of Dobermans in need throughout the Western states.

I bought the Ezip 1000 to exercise my Doberman on grassy surfaces, on recommendation from Wende Call.  I was told that this scooter had more power for uses on grass than other scooters.  I use it several times a week without having to worry about running out of power.  I like the ease of getting on and off while having my dog on leash.  The throttle and brakes are easy to use while holding on to the dog's leash while exercising, I can go as slow or as fast as I want and not have to worry about looking at the controls.  The turn radius is small enough that I don't have to make wide turns, unless I want too.  It is light enough that I can handle moving it without powering it up.  It's a great product, only wish I had one years ago gor excersing my dogs, instead of running them.

Thanks for a great scooter.

I am the proud owner of 2 EZIPS a 900 & 1000 and I faithfully use them for dogs shows & road working my Dobermans & Aussie for conditioning & exercise. These scooters are awesome & work wonderful in the grass. They are easy to use, transport easy & hold a long charge. Thank you for a wonderful product!!!

My friend I train dogs with brought 1 of your scooters to run her Dobermans in the field after training & I said I MUST get on of those for my Irish Water Spaniels. I bought my EZIP 900 at Sams Club & use it all summer long to condition my dogs for the field. It is low to the ground so at my age I feel safe & can manage it well to lift into my mini van. Thanks for a wonderful & easy scooter that us older ladies can drive & manage,.

I bought an EZIP 900 after a friend was riding one at a dog show back & forth from the rings to transport dogs & equipt. I love my scooter to roadwork my dogs & to get to & from my motorhome when I travel to show. It fits nicely behind my motorhome on a folding cargo carrier & I can lift & lower it myself. These are wonderful & the horsepower is impressive. Great fun & the dogs love it & it is very quiet!!! A happy EZIP owner,.

At 56 years old and failing joints in my hips I was depressed that I might never enjoy the freedom of riding a bike again.I know I could ride a motor bike but there is something ageless about riding bicycles. I was in a store here one day and saw a EZ Zip 750 scooter .I bought it on a whelm to go biking with my wife if it would even support an adults weight" I thought to myself". I am thrilled I bought on a whelm....at the time I was not aware of how awesome these bikes or technology was.My wife and I have biked everyday since getting my scooter and its nice to have gotten back into riding a bike.Since my scooter is so compact people stop and stare and finally their curiosity gets the best of them. They ask and im proud to tell them how wonderful these bikes are .Not only are they everything they advertise, they are just plain old fashion fun. I love my Zip so much I bought a pas/tag system full size bike..I also adore it as well. Thank you Currie for making my experience on bicycles fun again and for the products and service you have extended to me so far.I am so happy with my bikes I will be buying the kit for my wife's bike in the near future and plan on being a long term customer of yours. Thanks again for such a wonderful product, you all have really helped me regain a little of my youth again :-)

I bought an IZIP Zuma several weeks ago. What a bike. Surprisingly good on the hills of Altadena, CA and provides a great work-out even using pedal assist. I highly recommend this fabulous machine.

Thank you very much, if I could go down there and give you a hug I would but, hey I'll talk to manager or something to put in a good word for you. Can't wait to get those brackets and use them again. Its the best way for me to get to the gym. Thanks again Christina cause you have been very supportive and you pretty much make the company look good. I appreciate your hard work. Have a good one.

After an outstanding experience with one of your best, namely Leslie Young, I asked for your email address so I could call her performance to your attention. Leslie and I had a parts related puzzle to unravel, exacerbated largely by my lack of clues regarding bicycle sub assemblies. Leslie was not only exceptionally courteous throughout the call, she was a true 'sherlock holmes' in extracting the right information to narrow the scope of my parts needs. When we were done, not only did we locate what part I needed, I even had tthe opportunity to learn a thing or two about my bike. Service like I experienced is rather uncommon in my experience and I feel she deserves recognition for her stellar performance. I should know, for over a decade, I ran the internetworking protocols suooort team on a little product called Lotus Notes for the IBM Software Group(Heh .. God how I wished it was 'little'). And I can tell you that even dealing with the cream of the crop in technical support, it wasn"t all that frequent that I witnessed support of the caliber I experienced on my call this morning. Leslie communicated to me without directly saying so, that she not only KNOWS her job, she let me know through her cheerful dedicated demeanor that she loves her job as well. You need to reward, promote, and above all hang on to that young woman! She truly is an asset to Currie Technologies!

If you have ever wanted to go biking with your children and wonder if you have the energy to climb the hills, these bikes are for you. They are amazing, I am buying a second bike for my wife. You can pedal as much as you want, but when your legs get tired, use your thumb to keep right up. This is the future of biking!!

I had blast - fun riding the new 2010 Via Lento bike. I wanted thank you and I really enjoyed with the new bike. Saved lot money on my Jeep's gas this week by commute to my UPS work ~6.5-7 miles round trip. My Jeep avg 13-14 MPG, I filled up avg 48-52 dollars and run empty in 4 days compared to this new Izip e-bike - WOW saved lot money for me. Really appreciated and thank you very much!!

Sheri is fabulous! She helped me figure out the sprocket on my 500 scooter. If there was a perfect customer service rep, it would be Sheri! I don't think I've spoken to anyone as good or as positive. If all your reps are like Sheri, then you have the best customer service in the world!

I made my call to customer service today and talked to a lady named Nea. It was another very pleasurable conversation. She looked after my concerns and will mail out the piece that was missing. Thank you, it has been a great dealing with Currie's employees. Definitely a reflection of a fine Company

Today I am having a wonderful day. I received the part and finished assembling the bike. It's really fun to ride. I will proudly recommend it to my friends and co-workers. I feel good about this trendy and innovative product and you nice folks who support it. Thanks to all of you who have put the joy and excitement back into my purchase. Thanks and regards, Ronald V. I cannot tell you how helpful Lesley has been. She has assisted through 2 issues with scooter - she knew everything exactly - She should be promoted but don't ever take her out of customer service! You have a great product, and great customer service!

Dec 29, 2009 (Rob Joly from Tustin, CA.)

I just called your service number and what a surprise! I talked to Leslie and she handled my problem without any attitude or 50 questions. Actually she was so good I offered her a job. In a sales climate that is very challenging, at best, I was expecting a problem getting through and then the same old "hold on" then passing the caller to numerous extensions without a positive end result. Congratulations!

Thank you for your help with my parts needs. My wife and I have been riding Scooters since 2002, FS missiles and the Stealth 1000. I wish we had audiometers on our scoots. I know we have ridden a few hundred miles. We go to the Bank, Post Office, Grocery Store and McDonalds. People have a bunch of questions and we have fun telling them how much fun they are to ride (I'm 62 years old and my wife is 61). Thanks for helping me work through the parts problem, you were most pleasant, although you didn't have what I needed, you used your head. That's what I call S E R V I C E ! WHICH IS A LOST ART any more. You went out of your way to help me. Like I told you, you get an A+ for the day. PS I race snowboards and teach in the winter.

Nov 17, 2009 (Wayne T. Holdsworth, Sr. from Wilmington, Delaware)

In less than 3 minutes, Ray was able to tell me exactly what I needed to know. I just love him to pieces!

I would just like to thank your customer service department for helping me quickly diagnose and resolve the issue we were having with my son's scooter. The smile on his face when it was up and going was priceless! Thanks

Aug 3, 2009 (Ann Ellis from Montana, NW)

I just wanted to give kudos to Currie for making an affordable e-bike conversion kit available. I installed one 8 days ago on my 21-speed mountain bike. I don't want to give up peddling, I just needed assistance on hills (I now live in "Glacier Country" in NW Montana--west of Glacier National Park), but my cycling season is short and I couldn't justify spending a fortune for a hub motor capable of decent torque and LIFEPO4 batteries. I can't say enough good things about the Currie conversion kit--I'm on the bike a minimum of 10 miles a day now. I don't need to worry about my knees having problems on the steep hills around here since I've got the motor to help and it does incredibly well on the hills I ride--it's got great torque. Thank you for bringing affordable e-bike conversion kits and entry-level e-bikes to North America. I'm a huge fan of Currie now and am telling anyone who will listen about your products.

July 31, 2009 (Michael Angell, Cottage Grove Oregon)

I appreciate her bending over backwards to resolve my situation. Shannon was absolutely wonderful. She did everything within her power to help me. She is a #1 employee as far as I'm concerned..

July 15, 2009 ( Ian Keating from Rosa Beach, FL)

I did call Sherry at customer service. A very positive experience I may add. She answered all my questions and gave me some tips on how to condition the new battery. I knew I had made the right decision to deal with Currie.

July 10, 2009 (Donald Gagne, Newington, CT)

Had some issues with the battery & charger now everything is working great. My kids are crazy about it. I appreciate everything you people have done for the last several months.

July 9, 2009 (Greg Parker, Sandy UT)

You guys are so great. I also handle customer service calls from home, and you get in touch with people and get them what they need Courteous, professional it's the level of service I grew up with 40 years ago. I really love you guys you are very special to me.

July 1, 2009 (Dr. Ramsis Benjamin, Pasa Robles, CA)

Tina was helpful, professional and efficient. Within a week I received a new controller and it resolved the problem. I will be back riding again. It took me 30 minutes to install. She knew exactly what was wrong.

May 1, 2009 (Ed Mitchell, Naples FL)

I got my bike back today & it works great. I just wanted to thank you for your help & friendly service you gave me on the phone.

April 21, 2009 (Stanley Drongowski - Conway, SC)

I was very lucky to get Tina from your service department to help me. She's GOOD! She knew what to ask and had answers ready. In our conversation she left twice to double-check with her boss on the answers to my problem. I recommend her for being sharp and helpful. I am 89 years old and was Plant Superintendent.

Feb 16, 2009 (Donnie Martello, Ocala, FL)

I think my scooters are just great, I really love them. I can't imagine my life without them!

Dec 12, 2008 (Lee Fisher, Naples, FL)

May I just say, that is, by far, the best and most professional response I have ever received.
