Warnings

  • Use only Currie authorized chargers with Izip and Ezip electric bicycles. Use of any other charger could cause battery damage and will void your warranty.
  • Use only 24V chargers with 24V batteries and 36V chargers with 36V batteries. Using a charger of a different voltage than the battery can cause serious damage including fire and explosion.
  • Never mix charger/battery chemistries. Use only SLA chargers on SLA batteries, and Li-Ion chargers on Li-Ion batteries. Mixing battery/charger chemistries may result in fire or explosion of the charger and/or battery and may result in serious injury or property damage.

36/42 volts?

Why are some of our Lithium chargers labeled 36 volts and some 42? Are they compatible? In general, the answer is Yes, but it's always best to use the charger spec'd with the bike in question if possible. A "36 volt" battery pack generally charges to about 42 volts--36 is simply the nominal description of the mean pack voltage--so whether a charger is labeled 42V or 36V depends solely on whether we're indicating nominal pack voltage or the charger's actual output; both chargers will actually put out about 41-42 volts.

Currie supplies 36/42V chargers with outputs between 2 and 4 amps, depending on battery type. While these can be interchanged safely, for the best life of your battery pack you should use the charger that was spec'd with the bike originally.

Service

High Power brand

  1. Locate the fuse cap on the end of the charger
  2. Unscrew the fuse cap and remove the fuse
  3. Test the fuse by setting the DMM to "continuity" mode. Touch a probe to each side of the fuse. If the fuse is good, the DMM will beep; if the fuse is bad, the DMM will not make any indication of continuity.
